What was the Titanic?

The Titanic was the largest and most luxurious passenger ship in the world when it was built in 1911. It was over 880 feet long and 108 feet wide, and it could carry over 2,200 passengers and crew members. The Titanic was considered to be unsinkable, but it tragically sank on its maiden voyage on April 15, 1912, after hitting an iceberg.

The Sinking of the Titanic

The Titanic hit an iceberg at 11:40 p.m. on April 14, 1912. The iceberg tore a 300-foot gash in the ship's hull, and the Titanic began to sink. The ship sank in just over two hours, and over 1,500 people died.
