Andrew Parker
Nationalisms Sexualities: Explorations in the Cultural Politics of Identity is a groundbreaking work that explores the complex relationship between nationalism and sexuality. Andrew Parker argues that nationalism is not simply a political ideology, but also a cultural and emotional force that shapes our understanding of ourselves and our place in the world.
Parker draws on a wide range of examples from around the world to show how nationalism has been used to justify both the oppression and liberation of sexual minorities. He examines the ways in which nationalism has been used to construct and define national identities, and how these identities have been used to exclude or marginalize those who do not conform to heterosexual norms.
Parker also explores the ways in which sexual minorities have resisted and challenged nationalist ideologies. He argues that the struggle for sexual liberation is often a struggle against nationalism, and that the two are often inextricably linked.
Nationalisms Sexualities is a major contribution to the study of nationalism and sexuality. It is a must-read for anyone interested in the ways in which these two forces have shaped our world.
